Re: Travelling to the USA

@Anonymous If you're not concerned about making calls back to the UK, then you won't need a Three sim, but I have both, and I use them in the way I suggested to the other person.

By the way, you don't need data for Google Maps any more. You can download an area over WiFi and use it offline. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6291838?hl=en There are also other GPS apps that don't need data. Map Factor uses Ordinance Survey maps, and is also very good. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mapfactor.navigator&hl=en Google Maps is slightly better though, as it gives street names in the turn by turn directions, whereas the OS maps don't.

@Bambino Do you mean not to use the Three SIm to make calls within the US but ok for calls back to the uk and unlimited data in US.  Good tip on the maps btw.

@Anonymous Yes, that's exactly what I mean. If you use the Three sim to make calls within the US you will be charged. You need a T-Mobile or AT&T sim for local calls. As far as data speeds go, the Three sim will connect to T-Mobile's data service, which varies from wherever you are.

Re: Travelling to the USA

Note 4 should work fine in the states on GSM networks.
It won't work with any CDMA network sim cards though.

@MI5 I have seen the is posted
"The Note 4 supports

N910W8 - North American version: HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 12(700), 17(700)

SM-N910F - European version: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700), 20(800)

Basically, the North American version can use T-Mobile's 3G and T-Mobile's Band 12 LTE, the European version cannot (but could still use T-Mobile's Band 2/4 LTE). "

I guess the best I can hope for is with LTE on Three . Doesn't look it supports 4G if I take my Note 4.

Re: Travelling to the USA

Not sure about roaming agreements for 4G anyway, but 3g will connect fine.

Re: Travelling to the USA

Depending on what you intend doing I can't see 3g being an issue.
