Sip protocol blocked on Mobile Data?

Hi all.

Is the SIP protocol blocked by default on Mobile Data?

I can connect to my home VOIP server from my phone whilst on the local LAN and also on the separate internet connection in the house (so I know it works ok), but as soon as I switch to mobile data, the extension will not register.

Is this a permanent block, or something we can contact o2 Customer Services about and ask them to remove the restriction?

Many thanks 🙂

@Tunes0710 I don't really have an answer to that, but here are the customer service contact numbers:

Cheers @jonsie

@Tunes0710

I don't think O2 actively block it but I've seen sporadic reports of people not being able to get audio on Skype but when I have tested it myself it's fine which MAY suggest an inconsistent configuration across the network.

I should point out I'm a giffgaff customer (who are a wholly owned O2 MVNO who use O2's infrastructure)

@Martin-O2is this something you can ask someone to look into please?

He seems to have deleted his membership unfortunately and we have no way of contacting him now. Whether intentionally or accidentally we don't know unless he comes back again.:smileysad:

Hey @Tunes0710 I've had a reply to your query about SIP protocol's on mobile data.

specific SIP's are not blocked by O2 however this is not a guaranteed service on the O2 network and is covered in the Terms & Conditions under data charges.
