Problems with porting number to O2

Anonymous
Not applicable

Bit stuck on what to do next - I bought a O2 SIM and arranged my old number to be ported across on Monday during the day I tried calling both my old number & new O2 number from a land line and saw both were unavailable  by 18:00 id switched the phone with the O2 Sim on & off a few time and eventually I could make calls from it to other numbers but not send texts

However when I call the ported number I get an automated "the number you have dialled has not been recognised" and have spent most of the day online with "O2 Gurus" who ran through an obvious checklist of things to do but eventually passed me over to the supervisor who said I should take the phone into an O2 shop for resolution as it may be faulty - now I personally doubt that as on the day of the cutover I had to pop out and buy a new unlocked phone as my previous was locked to Vodafone

To summerise- the new phone can make calls but not receive, can neither send nor recieve texts, also if I dial my wifes mobile then she knows its my call so presumably the ported number is used for the dial

Bit stumped on what to do next - to me it sounds like some part of the porting process is not complete but the O2 Guru says the system showed as complete

I've just been into an O2 shop who had an advisory on their home page that people porting from Vodafone on the 20.01.14  Wave were experiencing problems as VF were not releasing numbers due to a service issue.

May have been a ploy to get me out of the shop but sounded plausible - just curious as to why the call centres were not aware of the issue

I guess I just sit & wait

I'd agree with your diagnosis and as it can take upto 24 hours to fully port all services I'd wait until tomorrow morning and if no better call 202 to get a real person to check your account.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
