Not only refresh but other discounts that are only available if you buy directly from o2.

What kind of discounts? I'm not getting anything on the S7 and I've been a customer for 12 years! The only deals I can get are the same any tom dick and harry can get.

Discounts such as friends and family, open and student discount, when available, are only permitted if the contract is purchased through o2 directly.

I to have noticed that o2 is £100 more expensive than samsung.I used to use refresh, cause it was a cheap an easy wayto get a phone and swap as you feel like. But now refresh is no use really the phones are cheaper elsewhere. You can buy the s7 directly from samsung 0%apr finance over 24 months. Then you would get the vr headset. All you would need to do after is get a sim only deal. What i have been doing now is buy my phone outright,or i use a credit card and do a balance trasnsfer.Cheaper and bertter in the long term.im on a sim only deal and im happy. slight_smile

That makes sense and you can still pay off the phone in full when you want to wink

I agree with that @Charlieboyoo. If people can afford to buy unlocked sim free phones outright they should do so. It gives you so much more freedom.

I think O2 missed a trick not selling the S7 with the VR headset. The refresh deal alone is hardly enough to tempt people who desperately want a cheaper deal that also includes the headset

Totally agreed,I used to think refresh was great. Now i think they have got greedy. And im sure a lot of people agree not one wants to overpay for their phone.Phones are getting more and more expensive now, getting out of control!

As someone who (borderline) abuses refresh, I always still manage to get handsets lower than the RRP by changing upfront amount or applying a different tariff. With the s7 at its cheapest with O2 it's 80 quid more and lacking a key feature, samsung's vr vision (the headphones wouldn't be used), if I were buying the s7, I probably would look elsewhere if I'm honest.
