Hi

I have just bought a new pay monthly sim for an existing phone I have. The number that O2 have given is not to my liking.

Can I have it changed?

If so, could I have it changed to the number of a mobile I had some time ago and let lapse?

Thank you

@Hil

You are allowed 1 free number change but unless you buy a specific number from ebay, amazon etc, you cannot choose.

The number you previosly had may not even be available now as it could have been reallocated.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Thank you for your reply.

The phone number I previously had just beeps (about 1 sec apart) when I ring it. I think that would indicate that no one is using it.

Also was the number you want to retrieve originally issued by O2 or another provider, if it was another provider you will have to contact them as it will have been repatriated when it was disconnected.

Be prepared to have to pay £10 to have it attached to a PAYG SIM to allow you to port it out.

Look here https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/information-for-industry/numbering/numbering-d... for details on the allocations if you are not sure. (Microsoft Excel spreadsheet)
