Personal Hotspot / Tethering

Is there any problem if I use my phone as a personal hotspot and use the data on my iPad?  I've searched on the O2 site and found different answers.

At the moment I'm trying to decide whether to stay with O2 as there are much better deals on other networks (all with decent reception here) and they do support tethering/personal hotspot so I'm trying to decide what to do!

You can tether on an O2 contract no problem.
The only limit is your data allowance.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks!  When I searched I found one article that said it should only be done occasionally and I wanted to make sure!

No, not a problem at all on contracts but not allowed on PAYG.
