Hello,

I am looking at buying a mobile for my nan, she only wants something very basic.

I was looking at something like this https://www.ttfone.com/home-products/ttfone-mercury-2-tt200.html?p=2 or simular, not decided yet.

They all say they only work on 2G, the website says I has coverage here.

The thing is I am not sure if I can just buy one of the 30 day sims on here and pop it in, will it work on 2G if the sim has 4G capability, do I need to buy something specific?

Appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks,

Glenn

Yes 2G is absolutley fine on the o2 network, just ensure it works on 900 or 1800Mhz bands.

o2's network is now 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G and a all sims are backwards compatible but not always forward compatible
- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

Until O2 turn off 2g services.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
