Refresh is automatic when you start a new contract directly with O2 but an old non refresh contract will not automatically revert to refresh.
To get refresh you need to upgrade your old contract to a new one, or you can change your old contract to a Simplicity sim only tariff and keep your old phone. This will reduce your current contract bill price.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

You were misinformed. As I understand it, you need to officially upgrade to refresh...

You either need to go back instore or contact customer services to sort this out http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

Hi @Anonymous

There can be a number of reasons...Did you take the O2 refresh out as a new connection or an upgrade on your old number?
