O2 in Droitwich (WR9)

Anonymous
Not applicable

O2 network down in Droitwich for nearly a week now. Any phone working on the O2 network (O2, Tesco, GiffGaff) almost totally useless. No signal (well, intermittently one bar, but usually no network at all) for calls or Data. Contacted them via live chat - not at all interested. Contacted CEO - not very interested but have written again in the hope that they would accept that they must have someone within the company with some idea of when service is likely to be resumed!! When my contract is finished I'll be off to EE I think..........

O2 will never listen. Whilst new customers are joining their network it's san fairy ann to existing customers. I, for one, had enough and left for EE. Customer service may be worse, I'm not sure it could be, but EE are giving me the service I pay every month for. Should the network go down, and they all do at some point, I'll worry about it when it happens....

Thought you might like a smile.........

Got the release from my contract from Tesco and got the PAC.

Didn't much like the EE sign up process - very protracted and ended up having to call them to get the application cleared anyway (?). Also a three to five day delivery window for the card is rubbish really. During that call the mast came back to life. I found out that the work being done was to get it upgraded to 4G.

Decided in the end to stay with Tesco. Wife's phone logged on to the 4G signal (she has an O2 contract). Mine doesn't. Did a live chat with Tesco - after much checking they confirmed my account was all 4G ready - but that Tesco 4G doesn't support my LG G3 (nor does it support the iPhone 4 or 5). So my account is 4G ready, the mast is 4G, but Tesco don't support my particular phone for 4G (they operate some kind of white list).

The Network mode list doesn't show LTE, so I guess that's how they do it.

Also contacted LG support and they confirmed that Tesco don't support the LG G3 for 4G.

I'll pop my wife's O2 SIM card into my phone this evening just to check (my phone is SIM free).

Not worth going to EE just for that - although my phone will hook up to 4G on the EE network, they don't have 4G in this area !!

What a load of old mismatched nonsense the mobile network is........

I would guess that a software update from Tesco would sort your phone out as it is a 4G phone, normally.

Interesting as I did suggest very early in this thread that the works might be 4g. I hope everyones smiling now. And hopefully the OP will get the software upgrade. Not o2's fault after all.

Popped my wifes O2 SIM card in. Immediately connected to 4G and the network modes show 2G, 3G, 4G or 2/3/4G Auto.

Clearly it really is the Tesco network that limits the phones that are able to use it's 4G capability - how crazy is that??

I'm getting an O2 SIM card (just ordered), cancelling the Tesco contract and returning the EE card/contract within the 14 day cooling off period (EE have no 4G presence here).

Sorted - but I never would have thought I would end up taking this route..........
