O2 Travel Bolt On

Hello folks

I am confused.

First, there seem to two flavours of this Bolt On:

1. O2 Travel
2. O2 Travel & Higher Data Limit in non-O2 Travel countries

Could someone explain what the difference is?

Then, when I chose either, I receive the following warning:

This Bolt On isn't compatible with the Standard Rates in our Europe Zone Bolt On you already have.

What is the alternative to the "Standard Rates in our Europe Zone Bolt On"?

I thought operators were prevented from charging extra for usage in Europe.

You don't need a bolt on for any EU country anymore but if you travel outside of EU, in some countries, you can have the £4.99 per day travel bolt on which gives 120 mins, 120 texts and unlimited (restricted speed) data, per day.
Countries not covered by either allow you to increase the monthly data cost from a capped £40 to £120 per billing cycle.

Hi @GlobalRoaming You don't need a bolt on for countries in the EU...You can use your allowances as if you are at home

Outside the EU then there is O2 Travel..or O2 Travel Inclusive

It would seem that the answers to both my questions have to do with the Data Roaming monthly cap.

• Higher Data Limit means that monthly cap is £120 v £40 per month and
• Removing "Standard Rates in our Europe Zone Bolt On" means losing the Data Roaming Monthly Cap at £43.

There's nothing extra to pay in any EU country now.
Standard rates in Europe just means your normal monthly allowances (until that changes maybe when the UK leaves the EEC?).
If you opt for the extended £120 cap outside of EU you can use more data but lose the £40 protection cap.

I am traveling to Usa and wondering if standard travel bolt on would suffice? Can anyone clarify?

@Jenjen-1 for the USA you need the O2 Travel bolt on which gives you 120 mins and 120 texts plus unlimited (slow) data for £4.99 a day.

If you need to rely on data, you would be better off with a local sim card.
