Hi

I have a Galaxy S21 on O2 Monthly, which currently is not being used. This phone used to be the old company phone that was supplied to me and we have had upgrades to s23.

My question is, I have my personal O2 Pay Monthly SIM that I would like to use in the S21, when I set it up, it works for about 10 Mins and then refuses to make calls or text, all the other apps work perfectly and the mobile data is fine, but I am unable to make calls or texts. All the network settings are fine. The SIM I want to use is an O2 Monthly sim only and works fine in my personal iPhone 11. Any ideas why?

What network was the phone on when it was a company phone @TOMSCOTT ?
It might be locked to the old network.

Or it might be blocked.

Have you factory reset the device first?

Some companies, like mine, install specific profiles that block the use of the phone in some circumstances.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

It's looking like a phone issue then @TOMSCOTT

If you've checked the baring status as advised by @gmarkj and that is clear, I would contact Samsung for help.

I would check with your employer as well as some, if the old phone isn't returned report them as lost/stolen and get them blocked by the networks especially if no MDM in place..,

- Xperia 1V - o2 and Spusu
- Pixel 8 Pro - o2 and Vodafone UK

My initial reaction was to think that @gmarkj might have got it - was the 'phone locked to the old network ?

The S21 is potentially one of the last handsets that might have been locked :-

Mobile companies now banned from selling locked handsets - Ofcom

The S21 was released on 29 January 2021 ; locking was banned from 17 December 2021.

Are you certain that your employer's contract was with O2 back in 2021 ?
