No it's free to upgrade once your device is paid off.

You just pay the new upgrade whether that's a Refresh contract or a sim only preference. Any adjustment will be made on your first bill be it a small increase for the new tariff until the normal bill is produced or a small credit if your new contract is at a lower tariff. Billing date remains the same @Sarah14
