Moving to Sim only

Anonymous
Not applicable

My contract is due to expire at the end of January and instead of upgrading my phone now (as I can upgrade a month early) I want to move to a 30-day sim-only deal and get a tasty upgrade in the next Black Friday sale, knowing that further upgrades will also align nicely with Black Friday.

However I don't really see any straightforward way of doing this as I am not currently on one of the newer tariffs which split the device and plan.

Do I have to order a new sim-only deal, then cancel my contract and use a PAC to move my number over?

No, just call CS and they will switch your account to simo.
You don't need to change anything at uour end.

You will be waiting at least a year for Black Friday deals I think

Yeah I know but there were some stunning iPhone 7 deals in the fortnight before Black Friday but I couldn't take advantage due to my contract running to January, my HTC M8 will be just fine for another 11 months.

I'll call up after Christmas when I am technically allowed to switch.
