Hi all,

I don't normally post on forums, but this one has me stumped!

I need to change my surname back to my maiden name. I've gone onto my 02 account - Manage my details. All the steps that are suggested of course. But the only thing I can "edit" is my number. There are no options to change anything else! I tried getting through to customer services, but had no luck unfortunatly! I've tried on the APP and online.

I am hoping someone on the forum will have any idea of what to do!? I thought it might have just been the change over, so I've left it for several months only to come back and nothing has changed.

Please can someone advise on this matter?

-TIA

How to change your personal details

How do I change my name?

We’ve made it easier for you to change your name on your account. Now you can upload your documents in My O2 so we can verify the name changes.

Get started by signing in to My O2 and select ‘Manage details’. We’ll send you a one-time access code to your device so you can view and edit your details.

To change your name, select ‘Edit your name’, then enter your new name and upload one of the following documents directly into your My O2 account:

  • Marriage certificate

  • Certificate of civil partnership

  • Deed poll

  • Reissued birth certificate showing your old and new name (only in Scotland)

You can then submit the change, and we’ll check your documentation. If everything’s correct, your name will be updated. If you have any issues with requesting a name change, please get in touch.

Hi Jonsie, thanks for trying, but you've just copied and pasted the info I've got access to and read already! 😅

I've already followed these instructions. And there isn't an edit option under manage my details for me. Nor a one -time access code or the ability to upload documents. My app and everything is completely up to date.

I have tried getting in touch with the support team but this is where I've ended up. I was wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation and knows what to do.

If you have any other ideas about what the problem could be please let me know.

Thanks 👍🏻

@AlwaysKF_SPN22

The app is sometimes limited as to what you can do.

Try using the online web portal My O2

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

Hi,

I've been having the same issue - neither the website nor the app let you change your name. I managed to get through to somebody through the chat function on the help page, who put through the request, but said I would receive an SMS message about what to do next. All I got was a message saying I need to upload a marriage certificate or deed poll, but no information on where to upload it - I can't find anything in My O2 about uploading files.

Why are they making this so difficult? Surely marriages and divorces are so common that they have to deal with this on a regular basis?

You can upload a marriage certificate to O2 by signing in to My O2 and going to the "My details" or "Manage details" section to upload it directly. If you cannot upload it there, you can email a copy of the certificate and your account details to changeofname@o2.com.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Thank you for that email address, that's really what I needed - there's no upload option anywhere in my My O2.
