Moving to Ireland

We are moving to Southern Ireland permanently soon. I just had an online chat with O2 and was told we could port our numbers to the provider we sign up with in Ireland. Is this correct?

Yes, they use 07 numbers for mobiles I believe.

Actually, I've just checked and they don't. Numbers in the Republic start 08 so it won't be possible.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Thanks.  I thought it strange that the online person said it would be OK as all of my Irish contacts have 08 numbers.

I think they were getting confused with NI which is of course the same as we are here in England and the rest of UK (currently).

Live chat, a poor second to the community. Is and always has been and no wonder they direct people here.

And the community forum is probably the main reason O2 come high in the polls of 'best network'...Dance
