How do I not get charged an extra month for cancelling monthly Contract?

Hi

I have decided to leave O2 and join another provider as I am getting a better deal.

I am on a sim-only 30 day Contract and it renews on the 14th (i.e. today) of every month. I have been billed for this current month.

I note I have to give 30 days notice when cancelling.

I have chatted with O2 via chat and have obtained a PAC code (expires 12 Sep) and was told I would need to use it today so that I am not billed for next month.

Unless I am being thick, is there a way I cancel my O2 contract without having to pay for a month in advance as I am planning on starting the new contract with another provider towards the end of this "month"
(basically, I don't want two providers billing me for one month (e.g. September) when I am only going to be using the new contract).

Any help or dumbing down would be great!

Many thanks in advance!

Jas

Around 11th of next month to get the full month use out of o2 before switching to new network.
If you give your PAC then and allowing 2 days for your number to transfer, it should complete and close your account before next month's bill is generated. But, you will still get a bill which you will have to pay and claim back.
To avoid a further bill, use the PAC now, but you lose the last month you've already paid for.

Thanks for this.

I will give this a go and then try and claim a refund.
