If e mails hold attachments then these can use a bit more data.

Try use wifi as much as possible to use the net and update / download apps.

Steaming content and watching YouTube video can use lots too.

If you have an iPhone there are many people reporting a "bug" with excessive data use?
Otherwise, all phones have a data counter built into them - Look in settings and you will find a section that records what is using data and how much - This will tell you the answer to your question.

If you tell us what phone you have we can possibly help further with settings and switching off location reporting etc.

How much data allowance do you have.

Payg you can add a bolt on. The highest you can choose within a tariff is 2Gb.

If on contract check in your myo2 and see if a bigger data allowance is available for you to choose or speak to O2 on 202.

We need to know how much data is been used and by what before we can offer more accurate advice.
Us guessing won't help you unfortunately.

Basically, turn off your data when you're not using it. Depending on what phone you have, set your phone to update apps over WiFi only, and untick any apps that update automatically, so that they're not updating in the background without you knowing.

Make sure you dont have anything pending in your outbox that has failed to send. The handset will keep trying to send it and this will accumulate to a lot of data use.

I would also recommend clearing any apps/tasks that are running in the background. Please let us know what handset you are using for instructions on how to do this
