I am trying to apply for a mortgage and have recently had it declined after 2 years of saving up.

I have had 2 accounts with O2 in the past 4 years and they have put defaults on my credit file for both of them - one for £41 and another for £172.

When I cancelled both contracts (because I wanted to go Pay as you Go) I was told everything was paid and sorted and that was that.

6 months ago I received a letter from debt recovery Lowell for the amounts above. I paid them straight away but was shocked I hadn’t had any correspondence from O2?

During my meeting with the bank regarding my mortgage, I got declined due to 2 defaults from O2!

I have been trying to chase this for 2 months. Every single email address says they’ll get back to me in 5 working days and I have had nothing. I’ve called up customer services and they have told me to go to store as I can’t pass security because they can’t text me on the number they have (it’s 4 years old!!!). Store tell me I need to ring up. I’m at a dead end and I’m furious! I can’t believe the lack of communication in this company.

Any advice? I’m trying to buy my first home.
