I have a large credit balance on my PAYG account. If I transferred to pay monthly, can this credit balance be used to make the monthly payments? If not, in which circumstances would the credit balance be used rather than taking money from my bank account?

You must set up a direct debit with any new contract.

Once your credit has been transferred, it will be used to pay your airtime bill, regardless of what you've been told.

The device payment is separate (if you take a device) and must be paid separately from the direct debit.

Yes, it will be transferred as long as you keep your same number.

A couple of months ago, I started to apply for pay monthly online. They wanted my bank details, so I queried it with O2 sales. They told me that the credit balance could not be used to make the monthly payments. So I posted on here to see in which circumstances the credit balance would be reduced rather than adding charges to my monthly payment.
