Chess Ltd apparently working on behalf of 02

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've been contacted by a company called Chess Ltd (apparently working on behalf of 02, so the guy said). I tried to have a live chat with an 02 representative about this but got cut off.

He said he could change my Consumer account tariff to a Business account tariff, as he could apparently see what calls I'd been making and I used my phone for a lot of business calls which is correct. He said I would get the same benefits of my current consumer tariff and he read back to me the exact details my account......unlimited text, unlimited calls etc... he then quoted the email address I use to log into my 02 account which is a private email address that only someone looking at my account would know. The Business account would be £15 plus VAT per month which saves me around £10 per month. He emailed me a form which I have to sign for him to perform the switch. It seems too good to be true in that someone would go out of their way (he rang 5 times before he got me) to reduce your 02 bill when they are apparently working for 02.

Can anyone from 02 shed some light on my offer.

Our advice is always to ignore cold calls and upgrade via O2 only.
There are many scammers out there who tie you in to contracts you don't need.
As a consumer you don't need a business account and the only reason they try and sell you these is because you don't have any right to cancel. Many are 3 year contracts too.
Call CS on 202 and discuss your options safely with o2 directly.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

They are definitely a company who offer business contracts only. https://chessict.co.uk/

Appalled that they had so much of your private information if honest.....

Good job you came here first. You would have definitely ended up with a contract you neither wanted or needed.

Well we can only advise.
It's up to the individual customer to decide if the want or need it.
No doubt they have customers info as one of O2's "trusted partners"!
