Changed to PAYG: Disaster

Anonymous
Not applicable

Decided not to upgrade and changed to PAYG.  Received my new SIM and transferred my number but still have a few issues:

1. Unable to use data.  Phone is a galaxy S, if I switch on Data Network Mode I still can't connect to the internet.

2. Can't access My O2.  I understand why my contract account will have been closed, but when trying to access my PAYG account I get a message saying my mobile number is not recognised and asks me to update it in my details.  Bit strange as my number technically hasn't changed.  However, I've been into 'my details' and enterred my mobile number - Still can't access my account.  Note: I've tried both my old number and the new number that came with the sim.

3. Although my phone is able to receive and make calls on my old number, when I go to my phone setting it displays the 'new' phone number.  Can't find any way to change this (not a major issue).

Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

When was your number transferred to pay and go? If it was recently it could still be in the process of being transferred and set up on pay and go.

Keep turning your phone off and back on to help reset it.

The phone number on the SIM can only be changed by putting the SIM in a phone that allows you to write to the SIM card. The GS doesn't allow this. You need an old symbian Nokia or pre android Samsung phone.

Many of the old phones will..... The idea these days is that the network pushes the number to the SIM, however, this doesn't always work on O2 although according to a recent post it is supposed to.....?
