I just rang the store to be told you have to wait 3 months? I’ve never heard this in all the conversations I’ve had?

I thought this also, obviously the lady didn’t know what she was on about. 
any idea how it works with regards to devices that are weeks away? For example the 14 pro max has a lead time of 4 weeks, do you pre order them or hope for the best a store has them?!
