Alcatel dongle & Mac OSX 10.9

Hi there,

Has anyone had any luck connecting the Alcatel One Touch dongle to a Mac with OSX 10.9 (Mavericks)?  Alternatively, any ideas if/when this will ever be supported?

Cheers,

@ perksie I guess if you look at £13.25 for 2gb data  if bought at the same time the dongle is .25p the 2gb data is £13

They are currently £13.25, including a PAYG SIM with 2GB of data allowance. Normally 2GB costs £13 on its own, thus ... 25p for the dongle.

That's a good price - I may be tempted.

For anyone interested, here's the link:

But not terribly useful for anyone running a Mac!

People seem to be saying that they do work on 10.9

Although that's probably not much use to you 😞

I wonder if you've got a defective modem?

Hardly the same but you get away with that - just!

You can't buy them for 25p though. Confused

Colonel: I have the same problem as Sawtest (who posted last on that thread at Apple Support) - my Mac does not even see (in Finder) that the dongle has even been plugged in.  Curiously, though, it is present in the System Preferences/Network panel as an "HSPA Data Card", and it has all the correct settings for connecting via o2, but hitting "Connect" brings up the immediate error message "The communication device selected for your connection does not exist. Verify your settings and try reconnecting."

I too have been unable to make Connection Manager work with Mavericks. Keeps asking for bill date and then closing down program. And like others dongle doesn't even appear as a USB device.

However I've got my dongle to work by connecting without using "Connection Manager". [Didn't come up with any error message as some others have pointed out. Perhaps just lucky.]

You lose the various stats and fancy dashboard, but at least you can get the dongle to work.

I did the following:

Apple system preferences > Network > click on HSPA Data Card displayed in left box > click on CONNECT.

(tick "show modem status in menu bar", and you can subsequently connect by clicking on phone handset symbol in menu bar).
