I've had a txt from O2 system nag 08 numbers will be charged an access fee of 25 p when it comes in soon that 08 numbers are free. Does this mean dialling a freefone 0800 number will incur a 25 p charge? Tried the live chat & no use at all!

I found the text quite confusing...a bit like 'have some free calls..oh and pay 25p for connection.'Smiley Frustrated.

I had the same text, funny enough Sky Talk is doing the same thing and they say that if you are not happy with the charges then you can cancel your contract with NO PENALTY. I wonder if this applies to mobile contracts as well as they are changing the T & C's.

You'd have to be able to prove that the changes were detrimental to you in order to cancel your contract penalty free, plus lets not forget these changes are being brought in through the government rather than by choice at the mobile network end so they are unlikely to let you leave.

I've had this text, but hold on.... Aren't the new rules insisting that calling 0800 0808 numbers should be free?

Confused, isn't the word lol!

That was the implication but yet again woolly ofcom guidelines leave the customer open to abuse.
