I opened the link when I got the text. It appeared to be a text of 'two parts'. ie about the July 1st changes ...and then the whammy about the '25p connection charge per minute'...which seems a lot different to what we were expecting..

Why? The networks have to charge something... the 0.25p is what O2 get's out of each phone call, 5 minutes long or 50 minutes long. It's whoever owns the number u are calling that will get that money.
I think this goes back to a question that was asked quite a few times by customers, and I think I've seen it here also. Typical scenario - call to 118xxx, charged 30.00, customer disputes charges and wants to know who's fault it is for the charges, wants to know how much of those 30.00 ended up in O2's pocket....this answers that question

I think the point is @Anonymous some people thought ALL O8 numbers were going to be free from July 1st...as some networks already provide that service?... That's why I personally thought the message I got was quite confusing
