29p for a smiley ? I'd rather frown

Same subject again, charges outside normal allowance.

When I queried charges for messages I had not sent using the online chat facility with an 02 advisor, was told that if a smiley is sent it's classed as MMS message and costs 29p !

My hairdresser has a contract Blackberry with 02 ( she pays more monthly than what I do ) and she never gets charged outside her allowance for anything.

Anyone else had this problem?

This is a phone issue not an O2 issue, As has been discovered the phone converts the message from an SMS to an MMS when emotions are used. Not all do it but I have certainly seen Samsungs do it in the past.

As advised above check your message settings to ensure that SMS isn't converted and your text message characters will drop from 160/70 when it is used but will remain an SMS

i just found out yesterday i am being charged 33p for using emoji's if it is sent as a text message. i think this is a disgusting way to bump up customer bills. i will certainly be changing my provider when my contract expires.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
