The number has been moved. I try to move to eSIM myself and if not I go to à shop. Thanks again.

So I now tried to

move the number as described in the O2 website for iOS devices but I get the prompt of the number of the new SIM not the original number that was transferred to the new SIM. I suspect that I may need to go to the shop but I wonder if there is an easy fix.

thanks!

À network reset solved the problem. I will move to eSIM tonight.

And that failed miserably from SIM card phone to eSIM phone.  It seems like I will need to go to a shop?

Probably your best bet @Bamboccio

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Thank you all. I went to the shop and initially when they tried with their own system it failed but then they chatted to the support and all went well. They were very helpful.

Glad the shop was able to get it sorted.

Good Luck for the future

Hello all, It SHOULD now be possible to get an eSIM for a PAYG number as per this web page

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-and-devices/sims-and-numbers/esim

Look in the eSIM FAQs about 75% of the way down the page and this appears:

I am disabled so going to an O2 store is a bit of a trial - I tried ringing customer services to try to get an eSIM.  After going through security 3 times or so, I eventually spoke to an agent who said that they would send a replacement eSIM to me in the post which I would see in 2 to 3 days.  It arrived today and guess what - a replacement plastic standard SIM card.  Once again - shambolic.

I realise O2 are probably getting their customer service overseas for 20% of the price (if that) of a UK centre but it really does push me to closing my O2 accounts and moving elsewhere.  I have a Spusu SIM as well and up to now, they have been brilliant.  Ring CS and always within 60 seconds I speak to a UK based person who simply "does the necessary".  With them I got the QR code for a swap to eSIM after about 3 minutes in total, emailed to my registered email address.  Come on O2 - get it together!!

Frank
