Hi,

My dad lives in a foreign country and recently lost his carer so I'm trying to get him a phone so he can call if necessary. Both are countries are in europe.

Which PAYG SIM is best for this? I don't want to have to top up every month which the O2 page seemed to be implying. I just want to get him some credit for when he has to use it, but he'll barely use it so it needs to per persistent.

Thanks!

O2 do not offer what you need and no UK network will provide a sim for continuous use abroad.

He will need a sim from his own country.

Just a thought, if it's cost that is an issue, if you get him a smartphone, he can use WhatsApp to message you on WiFi for free or from any data allowance he has on his local sim.

If you are desperate for a UK number, have a look at some of the global simcards, or look at local lebara / lyca mobile services, which may include calls to the UK.

It depends on location
