I'm trying to top up my O2 pay as you go number. I've done it online successfully before but today I'm being told my number "isn't an O2 pay as you go number". It is! and has been for about 20 years!
Why has it decided not to work!?

Contacted product support who gave a vague answer about "issues with the server", the online top up started working again after an hour and I got topped up.
O2 if your server isn't working an error message along the lines of "We have having some issues with our server, please try again later" would be MUCH more helpful than implying that my phone number wasn't valid anymore!

We’re just customers like you but it sounds like you’ll need someone to access your account which can’t be done from here. If you message O2 using the links below, they should be able to help you with this

Try calling 4444 and using a card.
