Wifi in Costa

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello, my first post so apologies in advance if I do something wrong.

I read a couple of threads re wifi in Costa but neither covered my problem.

I'm trying to connect using a Google Nexus 7 tablet.  The Wireless settings show that I'm connected to O2 wifi in Costa but I'm not.  I have registered using my mobile phone & have completed the code to download the app.  When I try to open my browser however I just get a message that I am not connected to the internet.  I do not get a log in page.  I've even tried logging in by tethering my tablet to my O2 phone.

Is there something else I should be doing please?

It's sorted.  After a long session in the O2 shop I dissociated my Nexus from my O2 account. I then returned to Costa & this time got the registration page.

Try texting "WIFI" to 2121 from your phone to reset your connection.

I know that nexus 7 only supports 2.4ghz wireless frequency but i doubt costa would use anything else.
Do you have Mac filtering enabled?

I would also try clearing the browser cache.

Thanks to all of you.  I'll try the suggestions next time I'm in Costa which will now be at the weekend.

I thought WIFI 2121 was for openzone and not o2 wifi.

O2 wifi should show up in wifi networks click on it in there and see if that lets you connect now you have registered it

TRy this from the faq for o2wifi

Follow these steps:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet go to Menu > Settings > Wireless and network.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi settings and tick the wifi check box. Your phone will search for wifi networks.
  3. Tap O2 Wifi to connect to it.
  4. Open your browser. When you try to browse the web you'll go to our sign-up page.

There is a glitch in the Nexus 7 wifi in that it sometimes tries to load a cached DNS when attempting to connect to open wifi hotspots. A browser cache clear usually helps. May have to do a restart also the first time.
