Think it’s a minefield as when I look on amazon there are a gazillion - don’t want to get sth so cheap that it frys my new phone - also confused as most of them say u have to buy an adaptor separately ? Help ? Help !!!

Adaptors are only needed if the phone doesn't have wireless charging already built in.
For aftermarket accessories I always find Belkin do excellent products and I have one we use on an iPhone 8 which was around £30 on amazon.

Great -thanks so much ! It was saying that to get the Xr to charge at the 7.5w you need to buy a 3.0 adaptor ? Do you know anything about that at all ?

That's a 3 amp plug socket like this, but you won't get fast charge yet until Apple release iOS 12.1
