I’m currently on a sim only plan and bought an iPhone XS direct from apple about 6 years ago which isn’t 5g. I’m now thinking of buying an iPhone 16 direct from apple which is 5g. Can I keep my current sim only plan but get my sim changed to a 5g sim?

Yes, quickest and best way is to go in store with photo ID and they will do it for free whilst you wait.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Yes.

Best way to avoid being cut off is to go into an O2 shop with photo ID and they will swap you SIM

Do not be tempted to go the eSIM route. O2 and eSIMs have too many problems

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
