O2 Email/Webmail to close?

I don't know what is going on here and I'm not sure I believe it, but a thread has appeared elsewhere saying that O2 Webmail will be closing at the end of the year according to an O2 Web Chat advisor.

Maybe Chiara could check this out as people using this service may need to make other arrangements.

Does anyone know what happens to the other 1004 MB when an O2 email user with Sky Broadband gets a reduction from 1GB (1024 MB) to 20MB storage space (a ridiculous 98% reduction)?

If you're with Sky you will lose your O2 Email altogether when it closes, if you're still with O2 Broadband you will keep it until you migrate:

Have O2 started making changes already?  I've been using the O2 email smtp server for outgoing emails on my phone, but it's suddenly stopped working.  I just get login errors now - it used to work and I've not changed the config on my phone.  I can still send emails via webmail but not from the email program on my phone.

Is anyone else seeing the same?

Just sent a test email, went out ok.

No, if your web mail is ok the fault must be with the phone, I would delete the account and set it up again, or at least the user name and password.

A poor signal would cause this too.

Thanks, but it's not the phone, for 2 reasons:

- My wife is using the same account for sending emails on her phone, and that's stopped working too

- Nothing has changed on either phone - it was working, now it's not

At least I know it's not happening for everyone!
