How to ask a technical question before buying?

Hi,

When I try to use O2's Online Chat facility, it's asking to input an O2 mobile number, which I haven't got as I'm not an O2 customer at present.

How to get around this please?

I'd rather just use the Chat option (so everything's in writing & quick) than call or email (delayed response).

Thanks 🙂

There is no email option.
Your choices are calling in http://www.o2.co.uk/contactus or asking us on here?

I wouldn't trust Live Chat to give you an intelligent answer for anything technical.

I'd be very surprised if the P9 that O2 is selling is dual sim. Your best bet for a dual sim version is Amazon, but beware as there are different dual sim versions as well. Not all are NFC capable.

Hi @GAT and welcome to the community!

We ask customers for numbers, so that our advisers can know what account they are tending to and to help fix issues. Luckily though, you've come to the perfect place to ask for advice on devices you like the look of slight_smile

I'll share this with the rest of the team however, in case we can improve the wording at the start of Live Chat conversations.

There isn't a single network in the world that will sell you a dual sim handset - you'd have to do like I have a few times and buy sim free off the internet.

Not true. Three sell the Huawei Honor 7 and Honor 5X which are both dual sim phones.

Thank you for leaping onto that error.
I should have been clearer by saying any network who locks their phones, would never sell a dual sim phone as it would completely defeat the point of sim locks.

Hi guys, thanks for your prompt replies & confirmation slight_smile

@Curr946, just as I suspected about the absence of a dual SIM.

@Bambino, I know what you mean about asking anything technical, but I thought they may be able to come up with the correct answer after querying the technical team perhaps (assuming they can contact them while chatting with a customer).

@Toby, it seems like entering an O2 phone number is compulsory before being able to use the online Chat facility - the field is marked with an asterisk.
