Changing phones - keeping same number?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just lost a company mobile and needed to get a solution quickly so opted to use an old Nokia 6300 I had in the cupboard. Ordered a PAYG Sim with a new number. How I miss the i-phone and intend to upgrade to this - but the Sim card will need to change... Can I keep the same number with the new Sim card?

Yes, you can keep your number.
A blocked sim won't delete the number off the system.

If staying on same tarif use this form http://swapmysim.o2.co.uk/

If switching from PAYG to contract use this one http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,Ts=Webforms,T=PreToPost

So I have the  new phone number on a "standard SIM" - and can't put this stright into an i-Phone because it is too big. I don't want to change to another new number so can the number be transferred to the i-Phone easily.

Both SIMs from O2 - I did notice on My O2 there was a "change number" function in the menu - will this allow me to install a new SIM for the i-Phone and then resort to the new number?

You have to use the form to switch sim sizes. It cannot be done on the phone.

The change number function on phone is used to correct the phone number registered on the phone after the sim swap is complete.
