Canceling my contract & Stopping contract temporarily

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've seen a noticement that

"If you cancel before my contract has ended, we'll need 30 days' notice, and you may have to pay a charge."

I wonder how much the charge is. I guess it depends on when I cancel my contract. If so,

e.g. 24 months contract, but I'd like to cancel it approx. 10months - 12 months earlier. Then how much is the charge?

(I prefer to use 5GB internet tariff;43 with 24months.)

*P.S

Can I temporarily stop my contract for a while? (It may take 3months or much or less)

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous

If your on a Refresh Tariff you can pay off the rest of the Handset Plan ,and then at the same time cancel the Airtime plan ,which cancels the contract or ask for a PAC code. Their is no fee to cancel the Airtime part.

If your on a normal 2 year locked in contract then the 'fee' is the remaining amount of months left to run multiplied by the tariff amount (minus any bolt on's and O2 mobile phone insurance if you have any)

O2 will only suspend a contract for a serving soldier in a War Zone, as far as I'm aware.

Help link on cancelling a contract : http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Cancelling-Your-Contract-A-Guide/m-p/566774/highlight/true#M56526

Help link to request a PAC CODE http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Discussions-Feedback/Obtaining-a-PAC-Code-from-the-O2-Network/m-p/544270#U544270 ,so you keep your mobile number to give to another network within 28 days of getting it off O2 or it'll expire and you'll need to ask for another. When another Network uses the PAC Code, this then auto closes your O2 contract ,and they'll send you the final bill.

Phone O2 on 202 to get the exact amount to cancel your contract.

Other options for the 3 months you won't be using the contract is let a trusted family member / friend use it. You can even change the bank details so the monthly amount comes out of their account. Be aware you are still responsible for the bills.

Is their something specific stopping you using the contract for 3 months ?

If you cancel your contract before the end of the minimum term you pay the number of months remaining multiplied by the monthly tariff.(less any added bolt ons)

You can't unfortunately suspend your contract, the only exception being a member of the armed services in a warzone.
