Attempted fraud

Just had a call from someone claiming to be from O2 saying they were offering 40% off existing contracts. All I had to do was respond to a couple of texts with security info that they were about to send me while still on the line. I didn’t believe them so hung up. Their number came up as 0333 011 2798. Please beware.

I have had pretty much exactly this experience, except the number it came from was 03448090202 - which is o2 customer service helpline according to this website.

either someone has cloned that number, or someone inside o2 is perpetrating this. Either way, I don’t feel terribly confident about account security!
