Hi,

I've had O2 4G broadband E8372H dongle now for 6 months and been very happy with it, regularly getting 8-12mbps sometimes more, but last couple of days it dropped down to nothing, it still connects and says 4G, but it takes nearly 30mins to download a 64KB email.

Tried everything , even taken PC outside but no difference. Tried setting the dongle to 3G only to see if any difference, but get 1 more bar on meter, but still same dead slow  speed.

status check shows that network is working OK, although I've yet to receive any reply to my report

I've not changed anything Tuesday evening getting 10mbps, wedenesday evening same time and ever since, nothing

any ideas of what to do or try?

Keep checking the network status page as sometimes it's slow to update of any issues http://status.o2.co.uk/
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:

Apart from chasing customer services not alot until a fault is confirmed.

As you already have used the status checker and reported an issue you need to wait.

You have tried the usual things like removing and cleaning the sim etc?

Hi,

yes I did all that. I did receive a reply to my report of a problem from O2, network working OK, no faults found.

Then within 2 hours of that, suddenly it was back upto 10mbps as previously, rather than the 1kb/min I had for 2.5 days.

Hi if your mobile broadband dongle isn't working so well, you need to connect it to a 10-15cm USB extension cable and fit the dongle to it, connecting the other end to your laptop's USB socket and it will work just like an aerial. This will improve the signal and speed.
