BB push email very slow

Anonymous
Not applicable

While I was with Vodafone, my emails arrived on my BB almost instanteously.  In fact, though I had Outlook running on my PC for much of the time, refreshing every minute, emails almost invariably hit my BB before Outlook sucked them off the server.

Now I am with O2, I find that emails take between five and ten minutes to arrive on my BB.  Obviously, this means that, if I pop out, I have to remember to close down Outlook, otherwise it will delete them from the server long before they sre sent to my BB.

Is there a problem, or is this just normal with O2?  Is there a way of increasing the 'refresh' rate so they are sent sooner?

My settings are the same as when I was with Vodafone.

I'll have to take it up with Tech Support.

If you have "push" set on they should come through immediately. To prevent them from getting deleted you can change your Outlook settings to "leave on server".

My settings are, AFAIK, the same as when I was with Vodafone, when they came through instantly.  I don't know of any 'Push' setting (I thought it was the default), where would I change this on the Torch 9810?

I don't know the 9810 but usually the setting is in the email setup, incoming settings....

There doesn't seem to be any setting for push email.

I was always under the impression it was handled by the network, rather than set on the device.

It may be default on a BB but it's definitely not a network setting.

One or two posts on the BlackBerry Forums say that it's 'carrier dependent', ie that some carriers support instant push and some rely on polling of the mail server every 10-15 minutes.

Looks as though I'll just have to accept that Vodafone did support instant push and O2 doesn't.

Pity.

O2 does "support" push if that's how you want to describe it. My GMail comes through in an instant which I have set up to "Push". It has to be either your email account or phone setting.....
