OK here is my issue, its not phone related as I have tested this on an iPhone, Lumia 620 and Nexus 4
I live in a strong H+ area 900Mhz, Now half the times my phones see this as E, and when its on E data does not work at all, I am currently using a Lumia and in order to get it to connect to H+ is a real pain in the rear, it involves restarting the phone several times, turning data on and off in the hope it see's H+
On my Nexus 4 it was easy as I had an option to select 3G only so it was always 3G, on the iPhone I also had to mess about and hope it would connect.
It wouldn't be so bad if E actually let me do something but it simply does not connect, no emails etc can be received.
Has anyone else had this issue?

I have a major issue with 3G signal strength in my house and thanks to the latest Blackberry OS 10 update a week or so ago my Z10 now only gives "4G&3G&2G" and "3G&2G" options under Network Mode, the "2G only" option went with the last update. I've logged a support call and hope O2 get it put back, every call I get drop outs and cut off with a "Network Not Available". Now I'm forced to use the land line for important calls, why networks have to tamper with things that worked fine is beyond me.

Hi,
If you switched off 3g wouldnt the phone revert to 2g or thats how i understand it anyway.
If this is happening at home have you considered TuGo over WiFi or look at Whatsapp or Viber.
not the best solution i know.
The Network is being worked on ref the 4g rollout which should go hand in hand with improving 2g and 3g.
What is the service ststus in your area saying ?

Sadly BOB that option is no longer available. It's all or nothing. I know PapaDug was affected also by this change and was trying to garner support for a 2G only and 3G only setting to be re-instated. Perhaps if he reads this he can update us with any progress.

BOB, the status link shows good service for 2G, 3G and 4G for my postcode but 3G certainly isn't in my house. It's been a problem here ever since 3G appeared, on Orange and Three also.
What really peeves me about it is had the handset not shown a 2G only option when I signed up to a 2 year deal in January I'd have sent it back. I'm 9 months into it now and O2 decide they're taking that option away. Potentially I'm faced with 15 months to go without the ability to make reliable voice calls unless I shelve the Z10 in favour of something like a Curve 8900 that is a 2G only handset.
What irritates me even more was is I was about to cancel my land line due to lack of use and Virgin getting greedy and putting the cost up to £14.99 a month, now I can't thanks to O2 not thinking about how changes like this affect customers.

Hi,
I wondering if the update which will have been released by the manufacturer i believe has been toyed around with by o2 , which they can do with updates through them unless you have a phone not purchased with o2 bloatware on.
One thing why I like using iPhones.
The ioS and updates are not touched by o2 and their is no bloatware on them whatsoever.
I know this sounds simple to SAY but surly it wouldn't take much of a patch release to re introduce the 2g option.

Well O2 got back to me today and I'm not entirely sure if the issue is them or Blackberry. Effectively they had no solution so I installed a couple of OS versions to try and downgrade to a release that gives me the 2G option again. In the end I found 10.1.0.4633 and have just intalled that and thankfully I now have 2G back as a selectable Network Mode. The sad thing is I'll be stuck with this OS release for the life of the phone sadly, I tried a 10.2 release and that had no 2G option. I got the 10.1.0.4633 from here:
