@Mi-Amigo

Wow!! You must have noticed the thread yesterday, where I said I didn't like James Bond FILMS until Daniel Craig appeared in them rofl

However, I did read Ian Flemings books.... so I 'may' have a lucky guess at question 1 Confused

I know some and will have to engage brain for the rest of them.....LOL

@Cleoriff

Pure coincidence Whistle I had already written the question. Although James Bond`s marriage is quite well known, who he married is less well known - so good luck with that and with the other questions  thumbsup

Re: White Room Thursday Quiz 22 Aug 2019

[ Edited ]

Right, here we go. For any correct answers I will give credit to the fact I used to do lots of quizzes and one answer is down to my 'life experience' (lol) Any wrong answers I will blame on old age. rofl

Q1 Who, in an Ian Fleming novel, did James Bond marry?

A: Theresa "Tracy" Draco (a Countess)

Although I wasn't interested in Bond films I did read Ian Flemings books. I know he went through a fake marriage to a Kissy Suzuki or Suzuka but his genuine marriage was to Theresa. She was killed on their wedding day.

Q2 Where is the most easterly point in the UK?

A: Ness point in Lowestoft. We were holidaying in Corton for a long w.e and decided to go and see it. Awful place.

Q3 When was mainland Britain last invaded?

A: In the late 1700's (1797??) The clue for me was MAINLAND Britain. It was the Battle of Fishguard when the French invaded our shores. They didn't last long. Two days and they were defeated. (That showed them!!) rofl PS Sorry @EmilieT  wink

Q4 What colour was the first adhesive postage stamp?

A: Black (The Penny Black)

Q5 What is orology?

A: Study of Mountains. (Another funny nursing story to this answer. We were having an exam and the question was Name the science of the Genito Urinary System. I knew this and gave my answer. Urology.

Sadly I misspelt it and wrote Orology. The paper came back with a big red X next to this question and a sarcastic comment from the tutor'. "If you want to study mountains, you are in the wrong profession"nerd

Q6 How many pieces does each player start with in a game of backgammon?

A: Fifteen

That's it. The two I struggled most with were the James Bond one and the exact date of the last time Britain was invaded. I also know that Germany occupied the Channel Islands and tried the Isle of Wight in WW2...however as the question was Mainland Britain, I went for the Battle of Fishguard..sweat
