I just had to share this, if only because it was in the FT and it's about one of my favourite literary works...

Sheesh, youse are all a hard audience on a Friday night, @jonsie , @Cleoriff , @Mi-Amigo
“You know,” said Arthur, “it’s at times like this, when I’m trapped in a Vogon airlock with a man from Betelgeuse, and about to die of asphyxiation in deep space that I really wish I’d listened to what my mother told me when I was young.”
“Why, what did she tell you?”
“I don’t know, I didn’t listen.”
Sheesh...

Only thing I don`t get is the question in the title of your thread - or am I missing something ?
What do you get if you multiply six by nine?"Six by nine. Forty two."
"That's it. That's all there is."
"I always thought something was fundamentally wrong with the universe"
...Well as most people know, the “answer” to this question (in the Hitchhikers universe) is 42.
When Douglas Adams was asked whether he invented this question because six times nine is actually 54, which is 42 when written in base thirteen, he replied:
I must be getting tired...
