Hi everyone wave

You might think we already have a couple of movie/series threads. But as @Cleoriff noticed, we don't have a thread where we can all chat about general TV and all the series, films and shows you discover and love. So, here it is!

Drop your recent watching and your recommendations in this thread. And maybe you will find a few things that you haven't watched yourself yet?

Keep the remote on the ready tv

During the football, I watched an excellent film. Available on Prime. It was a true story and called

The Mauritanian.

Based on the true story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi and is about his fight for freedom after being detained and imprisoned without charge by the U.S. Government for years. Slahi finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Jodie Foster) who battles the U.S. government in a fight for justice.  Her controversial advocacy, along with evidence uncovered by a formidable military prosecutor, Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch, (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) secured his release.

Apparently Slahi pleaded guilty. However, it was found that he was subjected to weeks of horrific torture before he agreed he was guilty.

Eventually found not guilty but it was another 4 years before he was released from Guantanamo.

He served a total of 14 years and was released in 2016.

The part of Slahi was played by Tahar Rahim who also played the part of Charles Sobhraj in the TV series The Serpent (another true story)

A good one for when I am abandoned for the evening, I dare say.

@pgn It was also great to see the real characters as the credits were rolling. We got to see what they are doing now. Fascinating.

Is anyone into Zombie films/series? I was absolutely against watching anything Zombie-related as it scared me to death but I have recently come around a bit grin I have just binge-watched Black Summer on Netflix and it was absolutely amazing, can highly recommend to anyone who likes a bit of a thriller/suspense.

Not watched many zombie series, but have watched many films.
I do read quite a lot of apocalypse books on Kindle Unlimited.
Will see if I can find Black Summer and Z Nation.

That was literally me until a week ago @jonsie rofl But then I watched two seasons of that series in like 3 days grin

You should give it a watch @gmarkj. I am yet to watch World War Z but I am a bit scared of that one from the trailers I have seen if I'm honest sweat_smile Have you watched it?

I have.
World War Z is a bit different from most zombie films, as it is more about finding out how the virus started than surviving what is going on (although there is a little bit of that).
It is not as bad as some horror/zombie films, a few jump scares but nothing too gory. I would watch it, but don't compare it to the book as they are (apparently) very different (I've not read the book).

Just finished watching TIME on BBC1. Anything written by Jimmy McGovern is always great, particularly when it starred Sean Bean and the damn marvellous Stephen Graham
