Bit bloody poor then @MI5 !!

@BobMsaid he saw the thread disappearing during the afternoon, ie at one point it had been reduced to 2000 posts (from 5000) but he thought they were just removing some pages to see if it loaded faster.

It was never intended to be removed completely.

Also, as you were the OP, I would have expected you to receive an email from the mod who removed it?!

We're just a free resource to be used as they see fit and not the first time they have culled posts without any consultation.

Not a scooby at what's happened 🤷‍♂️ - I've trawled the audit logs and can see the thread was automatically moved to a private area which I can still see. I've asked Khoros to investigate and I'll move it back afterwards and we can merge in the new thread as well.

Those badges were added a few years ago so I wonder if a bug has been fixed that stopped them from triggering previously, they are all linked to new threads.

Thanks for the explanation. I do have to remind you though, that there were complaints from a fair few people about the slow loading of the 'old thread' due to the length of it.

If it is to be reinstated, maybe it would be an idea to reduce some of the pages so it loads more quickly?

On Friday, those of us who saw it disappearing, actually thought the content was being reduced as per requests from some.

I certainly don't know Khoros works but it does look as if it moved the existing Word Association thread automatically due to the fact it was the longest, most used thread in Off Topic and had reached a limit set by Khoros? Add to that, it not only removed the thread, it disappeared totally from the Off Topic section (where it was pinned at the top of the page)

If this is what Khoros does with very long threads, it will happen again within a few days of it being

reinstated surely? (Unless chunks of it are removed)

The new Word Association thread which was started only 4 days ago (Saturday), is already up to 17 pages (166 posts) at 13.52pm Tuesday.

Agreed, @Cleoriff - @Kei-M_O2, it is probably best to let bygones be bygones and leave the old Word Association topic wherever it went to die (the Khoros analysis may help when other topics face similar curtailment, though!)... As the replacement is nice and zippy, unlike the Virtual Lounge, Weather and Listening To topics (which are, to my mind, still sluggish).
