It's National Thrift Shop Day!

Hi everyone 👋

With all of the changes going on in the Community in the past couple of weeks, we have almost been too excited to share this day with you. But both myself and @LukasB being avid thrifters, this is something we wouldn't want you to miss 😏

Why? Because today is National Thrift Shop Day! A day which I didn't even yet know existed but which most certainly brings attention to the important issue of excess consumption and our role in making the world a more sustainable place - Starting with your wardrobe! Did you know that the UK was named fourth largest textile waste producer in Europe with a study finding each Briton throwing away about 3.1kg of textiles every year?

And with most of the UK thrift shops supporting local and national charities, there is even more reason to find treasures in your local thrift shop and do good for our planet. But it doesn't stop with clothes - Don't forget that you can also recycle your old devices (for example with O2 Recycle) and do many other things that support a more sustainable lifestyle. That brings back memories for me...

Ex-jukebox records without centres

and buying the centres to fit in record to play on record player

It was the best way to get all the 60's groups and were usually in the shops a few weeks after dropping out of the charts

Of course Beatles and The Stones were harder to come by as everybody snapped them up

Those were the days when the local 'bop' shop had to renew the chart hits as they got worn out
