You may well have seen some of these, but they are all very good watching in their own way.
Not sure where they are, but here you go (none of these are child friendly):
The Strain - horror (Guiliermo del Toro does vampires. Swearing, violence and some sex/nudity)
Marvel's Daredevil - fantasy/action (based on the comics, but very dark compared to the films. Violence but not bloody, some swearing)
Californication - comedy/drama (David Duchovny plays a drunk writer who is trying to sort his life out but is only making things worse. Lots of swearing, some sex and nudity)
Rescue Me - comedy/drama (Denis Leary plays a fireman affected by the 9/11 attacks. Lots of swearing, some sex and nudity)
Big Bang Theory - comedy (Think IT Crowd but America with science instead of just IT)
Walking Dead - horror/drama (Zombie apocalypse, end of the world, survival drama)
