I make mental notes of stuff my wife mentions when we're out shopping from October onwards. Hopefully I then build up enough ideas for her birthday in November and Christmas

I'm not usually in particularly good health at Christmastime = dunno why? ... I commiserate sincerely with those members who are sad at this time of year - I think of my dad, now no longer with us
I don't expect any Christmas presents ... my son & his wife usually send me a very nice card which I keep
My mum has asked me to buy Strictly Come Dancing annual as has now become a tradition, mum will give me some money for it - it's just easier all round if I buy the book online

Do you treat yourself at Christmastime?
This is my Christmas present to myself

£5k in debt and still bothered about buying presents. (Not to mention family holdays)
Take a slap you stupid bint! Infuriating
Not often I disagree with you @Anonymous but that's a bit harsh?
She took an overdraft to attend a family funeral in the US (or so she says)
However, luckily for them, they have now received an inheritance (probably from the person whose funeral they attended) so they have paid off the debt and can now buy family presents....

The point is.. she was still worrying about presents when she had debt to contend with. Why? Was the world going to end if hubby didn't get a present? Or if the family took a day trip to the beach?
People so obsessed with giving, and needing to or feeling the need to..
Get a grip!
