Bring Back TV Programmes

What TV programmes do you miss, or too young to see at the time, and would love to see reshown?

I know that some old programmes are repeated on channels such as Dave, Yesterday, Drama, Gold -

feel free to mention any that you miss and are pleased on any of these, or other channels, as I for one might have missed them.

Yes the opening credits to The Prisoner do refer to a secret agent resigning but not in the opening or in any episode is there any mention that the agent was John Drake (Danger Man) also played by Patrick.

As I posted, this theory dates from around the mid 70s when an appreciation society was formed and a magazine was published suggesting this. I ope this helps clarify where this came from.

Yes, indeed @Cleoriff it brought back many hapoy memories. In particular my early years here in England, getting to know the country and people where I'd decided to make my home.

Funny how, I didn't like The Prisoner when I first saw it in the States but became an avid fan when they repeated it here in the UK.

There were many good shows on TV when I first came to England and only 3 channels then. I remember the fanfare when channel 4 launched in the 80s, 1982 I believe. And then we got channel 5. Sattelite TV was in its infancy in those days. TV has come a long way since then. 

It may just be me, viewing TV in a haze of happy memories, but I think we had a better quality of TV programme when we only had the 3 channels. The proliferation of channels hasn't necessarily upped the quality, quite the opposite, in fact. 

Having said that, there are many TV programmes I enjoy watching now, purely for their entertainment with some brilliant drama thrown in, like Bodyguard, Line of Duty, The Fall and Killing Eve. Plenty of good foreign dramas too from Italy, France, Spain, Belgium and Scandinavia. If anyone had told me years ago I'd be watching, and enjoying, sub-titled TV shows I'd have laughed at them.

Hey @jonsie no need for many, myself included, share your assumption that No 6 in  The Prisoner was Danger Man, and, in my humble opinion, Patrick wanted "closure" on Danger Man (there were calls at the time when the Danger Man series finished for it to be brought back).

What I do find interesting is that the final episode of The Prisoner was first screened in 1967 and some 52 years later it is still being discussed, which makes me wonder how many TV progs of today will still be talked about in 50 years time? (but that is off topic on this off topic).....

Actually it's good to discuss the Prisoner after all these years. Funnily enough, we were the only two in our circle of friends at the time who liked it.

There again, we have the same situation now with Sherlock. My husband and I love it, our friends, not so much..

@Cleoriffgood point - as I said when I watched The Prisoner I was at school and it divided opinion among the kids.

What`s interesting in chatting about these old programmes is that many member of the Community still remember them as evidenced by those mentioned, apart from mine, on the TV A-Z game thread.

Moving on.....

Bring back Men Behaving Badly. More absolute belly-laughs per 30 minutes than any other comedy including the classics like Please Sir, Steptoe, Open all Hours, Some Mothers Do Have 'em and even Only Fools  and  Horses. I would love to see an up to date remake

Oh yes, def should bring back Men Behaving Badly. My fav episode was the one when they are on hols and brought back the model of the dolphin. Priceless....
