You may need to use the website at the end of this Guide How to Top Up (PAYG) as you are outside the UK, @Kim1112 - it works well wherever you are in the world:

When you return to the UK, take up the issue with the Top-Up line with O2 via Social Media using the link just below if you still cannot redeem the voucher, which should remain valid for 12 months: "Top up between £10 and £50. Your voucher will expire after twelve months. Call 4444 free from your mobile anywhere in the world. If the country doesn't allow shortcode dialling, enter *111*# and press the call button."
