Purchased a new phone and the money has been taken out of my account - however I have not received any order confirmation and the phone is still in my basket.

@sclarke501 when you look in the basket does it say anything about a credit check?

Your payment will be pending until the order is accepted by O2.
If you are refused, your bank will return the money to you in line with their policy. Usually 5 to 7 days.

I've just checked my o2 app and the order is there but says cancelled. I assume I'll be refunded for the cancelled order - but should I wait for this until ordering again or should it be fine to place the order now?

I'd wait until checked with sales.
Too many credit checks in quick succession will guarantee a refusal.
